EM Services

Estate Management (EM) has responsibility for the planning, delivery and operation of the physical estate of UNSW, including campus planning, infrastructure planning, development, construction, refurbishment, maintenance, space management and grounds management. It also provides a number of other services to the University including security services, issuing of ID cards and parking permits, fleet management, waste and cleaning and mail services. For more information on EM departments visit About Us.

Access

FM Assist issues ID cards and Security Services arrange access to UNSW buildings.
Eligibility for access is recommended by Faculties/Divisions. For more information see FM Assist.

Emergency Procedures are available as posters which can be put up throughout the University.

The Engineering unit within EM provides a number of different technical support services for UNSW
buildings and infrastructure:

Evacuation plans

UNSW vehicles are pool vehicles and will be provided under company operating leases which are
maintained by the lease provider.

Floor plans and space information
The Space Management Unit provides a number of different services:
  • Updating and maintaining the space database (floor plans and space data) relating to new builds, refurbishments and relocations along with producing space-related reports.
  • Maintaining architectural CAD floor plans, and the provision of historical as built architectural drawings
  • Allocation of building and room numbering to new/refurbished spaces

General Services within EM manage the contracts for maintenance of all UNSW grounds including
landscaped areas and playing fields.

ID cards

Kensington - Paddington shuttle bus
A shuttle bus service operates between the Kensington and Paddington campuses. Please note the primary purpose of the shuttle bus is to operate as a night shuttle bus. Capacity and frequency is limited. Students and staff are encouraged to take public transport. This service is operated by Security Services.

Key cutting service, repair, maintenance and installation of locks.

Lost property
FM Assist is the collection point for lost property and the owner of the registration of lost items. FM Assist

The Mail Centre provides a mail and courier service to the entire University through the receipt and dispatch of mail, as well as the collection and distribution of mail from faculties, schools, centres and units of the University.

Refurbishments and minor works
Provision of project management services to manage the planning, design and construction of the annual capital works program.

Relocations
EM provides a relocation service for staff and equipment that needs to be moved within UNSW’s property holdings. This can be to support a construction project or changing business requirements. Advice, packing materials and or labour, removalist labour, equipment and vehicles can all be requested.
