Business registration

The following steps outline how Businesses access the online contractor system.

STEP 1

Go to the following link: www.contractorsafety.unsw.edu.au

STEP 2

A key contact for the business needs to register the business in the system1,2 i.e.

  • Construction project – project manager
  • Service Contract – contract manager
  • Small works – business owner

* NOTE: the person who registers the business still needs to register as an individual contractor and complete relevant inductions if working on the UNSW site

**Registration clarification

  1. 1.  Whether the business is engaged by a UNSW Project Manager or are subcontracted under a Principal Contractor, each business must be registered on the system i.e.
  • Example - Principal contractor “Super Constructions” engages “Tom’s Plumbing” to work on a construction site. In this case “Tom’s Plumbing” is required by UNSW to have someone representing the business/company to register it on the UNSW system.

STEP 3

Relevant documents must be uploaded by all companies/businesses

  • Workers compensation or accident/injury policy for sole traders – & public liability must be uploaded
  • Professional indemnity and product liability – upload these documents based on directions by your UNSW Project Manager

STEP 4

Once registered, your account details will be sent to your email address

Individual contractor registration

STEP 1

Go to the following link: www.contractorsafety.unsw.edu.au

STEP 2

Select the contractor login/register option

STEP 4

Under “Role” you will see 3 options, select which one fits your role

  • Consultant not personally undertaking any hazardous or high-risk work
  • Construction or Service Maintenance Contractor -  working in either construction, service maintenance or high-risk work
  • Faculty Contractor – contractors servicing scientific equipment, ETT in labs etc

STEP 5

Relevant documents/licenses must be uploaded

  • White card – needs to be uploaded if undertaking construction, hazardous or high-risk work
  • Photographs of other licenses such as confined space entry, heights competency etc need to be uploaded once registered
