Campus Development Update: June 2017

Biological Sciences Precinct

  • The construction of the new building (E26) is now complete and occupation of the building has been ongoing since April 2017.
  • Minor refurbishment of the lower ground floor of the adjacent Bioscience building link wing is currently underway and will be completed by September 2017
  • Undergraduate teaching in the new teaching laboratories on the Ground Floor and  Level 1 will commence at the beginning of Session 2, in July 2017.
  • Planning and design for the refurbishment of the existing D26 Biological Sciences Building is well advanced.  The Development Application was approved by the Department of Planning and Environment in April 2017.
  • Enabling works, including the erection of site hoardings and services diversions, commenced in late May. The main construction activities, including demolition, will commence in the third quarter of 2017.  It is expected that construction will be complete by early 2019.


Cliffbrook Renewal

  • The development application for the renewal of the Cliffbrook Campus was submitted to the Planning & Environment Department on Tuesday 9 May 2017.
  • The plans are now on public exhibition and can be viewed on the Department of Planning & Environment website. Neighbours and other interested stakeholders now have the opportunity to make a formal written submission.
  • The exhibition closes on 31 July 2017.


Electrical Engineering Building Renewal

  • On Tuesday 7 June 2016, NSW Department of Planning and Environment announced that the project's planning application has been approved
  • Work on the Northern Building is well under way, with internal demolition completed in late April 2017.
  • A tower crane was lifted into place in late April and construction amenities for the site were installed in May 2017.
  • The Northern Building is due for completion by February 2018. After this, work will commence on the Southern Building.


Roundhouse Redevelopment

  • Internal and external demolition work is now almost complete.
  • Work has commenced on a cantilevered structure for a new exterior space.
  • The concrete pour for the kitchen extension slab has taken place.
  • Paint stripping work has been completed.
  • The redevelopment is due for completion by December 2017.


Science and Engineering Building

  • Main construction works commenced in late April 2017.
  • Construction amenities and walkways were installed throughout April to ensure student, staff and campus visitor safety around the site.
  • The piling rig is currently onsite.
  • The tower crane for the project will be installed on 24 June 2017.
  • The project is due for completion in 2019.
