UNSW Protective Services oversees the management of Lost and Found Property. All found items are registered in the lost property database. Lost property found on or off campus is held at the Security Office, located at Gate 2, for one (1) month.
Help us return your property
Please assist us in returning lost items by labelling your belongings with your name and student number whenever possible. This includes books, notes, folders, and other personal items.
Note: Perishable items, drink bottles, and food containers will be disposed of immediately.

Finding lost property
If you find a lost item, please hand it in to the Security Office at Gate 2 or to any Security Operations Officer. The Security Office will make every effort to contact the owner by phone and email if the owner can be readily identified. If the owner cannot be identified, the item will be held for one (1) month before it is disposed of. Unclaimed items after this period will be disposed of accordingly.
Reporting lost property
You can report lost property by visiting the Security Office at Gate 2 or contacting Campus Protective Services. We will register your lost item in our database and notify you if it is found.
Collecting your property
Lost property can be collected from the Security Office at Gate 2, which is open 24/7.
When collecting your item, please provide the following:
- Proof of identity
- Description of the item, if necessary, to confirm ownership
- Signature to acknowledge receipt of the item
For lost property on the Paddington Campus, items are held by Estate Management in Room FG14 (F Block). The office is open from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday. You can contact them at (02) 8936 0747.
