Judges’ comments

“The Hilmer Building provides a platform for the UNSW Faculty of Science to operate as Australia’s leading contributor to materials engineering research and teaching. The construction of this building is the result of a series of innovative ideas, approaches, techniques and tools. Flexibility in design and construction make this building an excellent example of modern educational buildings.”

“The CQC2T is a highly technical laboratory fitout. It has highly specialised equipment that requires tightly controlled conditions to operate effectively. There were stringent design specifications as the equipment is sensitive to temperature fluctuations, electromagnetic interference and vibration.”

These awards demonstrate the ambitious and transformational campus development program under way by Facilities Management to create a world-leading campus.
